Skin Rejuvenation Treatments We Offer
Dr. Rispler, a leading board-certified dermatologist, has been treating patients successfully since 1976. Today, the most efficient and effective state-of-the-art treatment techniques are used. Each treatment is tailored to our clients’ individual needs, so you can receive a customized treatment plan for:
Precision removal of skin layers promotes growth of new skin cells. The results are often tighter skin and a younger looking appearance. Skin resurfacing may be performed alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. It can reduce wrinkles and lines around the eyes, mouth, and forehead, oftentimes with a local anesthetic.
An alternative to a face lift, the procedure can take up to 45 minutes for localized treatments, and up to two hours for a full facial treatment. The process is non-invasive and requires no injections or fillers. It is also suited for younger patients without a need for plastic surgery, but who can benefit from minimal downtime and a vibrant, more youthful complexion.
Studies have found one in six people with tattoos consider having them removed at some point. Injected under the skin, tattoo pigments are intended to be permanent, and the various colors used make finding a single effective treatment difficult. Therefore, removing them can be a challenge. Tattoo regret is most common in those who were tattooed while young or spent little time planning.
High-power laser energy, delivered in rapid pulses, can break apart ink particles, which are then eliminated by natural biological processes. Picosecond lasers in the 532-nanometer wavelength can break up red, yellow, and orange ink pigments. The same type of machine can treat pigment lesions, acne scars, and even wrinkles, but for tattoo removal, it uses photomechanical energy to break apart even darker blue and green inks, with less injury to surrounding tissue.
From fine lines to deep furrows, wrinkles are caused by a loss of flexibility. They may appear when you smile or squint. Over time, they become permanent, most often due to drier, thinner, and less elastic skin. Exposure to ultraviolet light can break down collagen and elastin fibers, while cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption can trigger wrinkles as well.
To avoid wrinkles, long sleeves and hats can help. Staying hydrated, using moisturizer, and consuming antioxidants and saturated fats can be effective. When laser treatment is used, you can avoid fillers and Botox. Our Forma laser uses RF technology to stimulate collagen while leaving upper skin layers untouched, while the Fractora laser uses fractionated RF energy in a matrix of micro pins, which revitalizes collagen to improve skin texture and complexion.
Skin can become looser due to the aging process or sun exposure, stress, and gravity. Wrinkles, folds, and creases are signs of a lack of skin tightness. They may appear on the face, around the eyes (eye bags, crow’s feet, etc.), and on the back. Loose skin may occur around the stomach and extremities as well. But a stomach, face, eye lift, or neck lift may not be necessary, at least from a surgical standpoint.
Non-surgical skin tightening treatments are now available. By heating the epidermis and collagen fibers, lasers can stimulate a process that results in smoother, softer skin and that can reverse sagging. LDI offers several laser treatment options that can lift and tighten skin in less time than surgical methods, with less discomfort and downtime and fewer side effects for Los Angeles clients.
Acne and Acne Scarring Treatment
Acne is often difficult to treat and slow to heal. Over 50 million people in the U.S. have some form of acne, which is a common condition affecting teens. Pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads can break out on the face, forehead, upper back, and elsewhere on the body. Oil and dead skin cells clog up hair follicles and can damage the skin (bacteria and hormones can contribute to the problem as well), causing repeated injury that can lead to scarring. Severe acne can trigger infections, not to mention emotional distress.
Our acne dermatologist can assess the scope of your acne and scarring. Acne scars can be treated with an RF laser. In fact, acne laser treatment has become one of the most popular ways to reduce acne scars, which can be done in one or several treatments. Your dermatologist will recommend steps to take for preparation and aftercare, to protect your skin. Otherwise, you can resume your normal routine immediately after treatment.
Spider/Varicose Vein Removal
LDI’s Los Angeles phlebologists specialize in spider vein removal and can treat varicose veins as well. Many people develop visible vein patterns on their legs. Spider/varicose veins are small dilated blood vessels that appear red or blue under the skin. As tiny valves within them weaken, blood starts to flow backward and venous walls start to bulge.
Traditionally, spider veins were removed via injections. Laser treatment avoids the need for injections, and patients can usually return to work and routine activities the next day. Sometimes exercise, compression stockings, and elevating your legs can improve circulation. When spider vein removal is considered, laser treatment is safer and more effective than going under the knife.
Hyperpigmentation is caused by the skin pigment, melanin, and often appears as dark spots or patches. Uneven pigmentation comes in the form of freckles, sun spots, and melasma. It is usually harmless, but many clients choose to correct undesired pigmentations.
At LDI, we offer several hyperpigmentation treatment options, including fractionated RF energy for discolorations on the forehead, cheeks, eyelids, neck, and around the mouth. Intense pulsed light is often used for pigmented and vascular lesions such as sun damage and rosacea. We also use acoustic lasers to stimulate collagen production, which can improve pigmentation over several sessions, and a 1064 nanometer laser that penetrates the skin without damaging it to provide pigmentation treatment.
Used by the Erbium YAG 1064 laser, it is suited for any skin type or color. This laser is non-ablative; it leaves the top layer of skin untouched while addressing issues that lie below the surface. It can stimulate collagen production, treat pigmentation and vascular lesions, soften wrinkles, reduce sun spots, and remove excess hair.
Applies RF energy as micro pins across the skin. Suited for all skin types, it heats deeper layers to boost collagen production. Micro lesions may take up to a week to heal. Aftercare generally only requires moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen. The full effects of treatment can take two weeks to three months to show.
Used to treat pigmented and vascular lesions, Lumecca is based on intense pulsed light. Photothermolysis can treat age spots, rosacea, freckles, and even sun damage. An elastic sensation and warming of skin are common during treatment. While redness subsides with hours. The number of sessions depends on the patient’s skin type.
Applying acoustical energy rather than heat, this laser can improve the texture of light or dark skin and treat wrinkles, birthmarks, freckles, and brown spots. A series of sessions is often required, while a lightening of brown spots can be seen in a day. Signs of inflammation typically abate within a few hours.
An RF treatment for all skin types that helps contract skin and improve elasticity. It can be used on the face, neck, arms, and abdomen. Precisely targeting deep layers, Forma is often applied over weekly sessions lasting up to six weeks, and can be combined with other skin rejuvenation techniques.
